Altitude Valve controls the high water levelin reservoirs without the need for floats or other devices. It is a nonthrottlingvalvethat remains fully open until the shut-off point isreached. This valve closes at a high water level.Water is withdrawnfrom thereservoir through a separate discharge line or through acheck valve located in a by-pass line around the altitude valve.
Thevalve delays opening until the water in the reservoir lowers to a desiredlevel. The low level is adjustable from 1 to 15 feetfrom the high watershut-off point. This valve is hydraulically operated and pilot controlled. The pilotcontrol operates on thedifferential in forces between a spring load andthe water level in the reservoir. When the force of the spring isovercome by theforce of the reservoir head, the pilot closes the mainvalve. The desired high water level is set by adjusting the spring force.Thepilot control measures the reservoir head through a customersupplied sensing line*connected directly to the reservoir.
